About The Camp

BU Tennis Academy is the greater Peoria area’s premier summer tennis camp for youth tennis players. Operating at the David Markin Tennis Center on the Campus of Bradley University since 2017, BU Tennis Academy has offered junior tennis players the opportunity to develop their games in a fun and instructive environment. Our staff boasts a wealth of knowledge and experience and are dedicated to growing the sport of tennis in Central Illinois.

CAMP INFORMATION

Please find below important information related to our upcoming camps. Feel free to contact Matt Tyler (Bradley University’s Head Women’s Tennis Coach) at mttyler@bradley.edu with any questions. 

Each session runs from 8:30am – 12:30pm, Monday through Friday. Camp age range is 10 – 18 years old. The camp will focus on instruction and match play based on strategy-related skills. On the first day of each camp, please arrive at 8:15 a.m. for check-in.

Optional afternoon match play is Monday through Friday from 1:30pm – 3:30pm for an additional fee of $10/day.

Our dates for camp will be the following:

  • June 3-7
  • June 10-14
  • June 17-21
  • June 24-28
  • July 8-12
  • July 15-19
  • July 22-26

BU Tennis Academy does not have access to indoor tennis courts. In the event of inclement weather, camp will be cancelled for the day and refunds issued.

Payment is due at the start of each session, payable in check or cash only. Each session is $150. Please make the check out to Braves Tennis Camps. 

Please ensure your camper has a nutritious breakfast in advance of camp every day. Campers are more than welcome to bring snacks to eat during break.

We want to ensure your child a safe and positive environment during their time at camp. For that reason, the number of campers at each session will be limited to 24. Drugs, alcohol and cigarettes are strictly forbidden, and will result in immediate dismissal from camp without a refund.

It is not recommended to bring unnecessary valuables, such as electronic devices, jewelry, etc. The Braves High-Performance Tennis Camps are not responsible for the theft or loss of personal items.

From the East (Chicago, Bloomington/Normal, St. Louis)
At the I-74/I-474 split, stay to the right and continue on I-74 West. After entering the Peoria Metro area, take the University Street exit (91) and stay in the left lane. Turn left on to University Street and continue south for approximately four blocks. After going through the intersection of University and Main Streets, stay in the right lane and enter Bradley’s campus.

From the West (Galesburg, Quad Cities)
Just outside of Peoria, at the I-74/I-474 split, continue on I-74 East. After entering the Peoria Metro area, take the University Street exit (91) and turn right heading south on University Street for approximately four blocks. After going through the intersection of University and Main Streets, stay in the right lane and enter Bradley’s campus.

Matt Tyler has been a collegiate tennis coach for 16 years, the Bradley University Women’s Tennis coach for the past 11 years and BU Tennis Academy Director since 2016. Matt has also been a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association for 19 years and brings a lifetime of playing, teaching and coaching experience to BU Tennis Academy.
